"The Cave"

The Cave is an allegory about the reality of the truth is based on what you see. Socrates is trying to get across that the reality may be different than the truth based on what you experience and gain knowledge from. The opportunity to learn things then you have many possibilities to explore and create knowledge that is your own. If you go along with what everyone else is saying then you may not have as many opportunities as people that make learning their own. With the technology today, we as students, don't really have to think for ourselves because if we need help with something we can look on Wikipedia or on Google.

Argumentative Paragraph-Seven Deadly Sins

There are seven deadly sins that are in our world today. The venal sins include: lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride. Not all sins are shown in the Canterbury Tales. In the Miller's Tale, 3 men were coveting a very ostentatious woman, known as greed. The men were fighting for her attention and trying to get her to notice them. In the Wife of Bath's Tale, a knight is sent on pertinent journey. Searching for a what women want, the knight, finds an old hag who says that she will tell him what women really want. The old hag makes him promise that he will marry her. "That you will do, whatever it may be; The thing I ask if it lie in your might; And I'll give you your answer ere the night." The knight is a little shocked at first, because she is old and ugly. The knight is full of greed so the old hag says that she can be either beautiful, but she may cheat on him, or she can be ugly and stay true to him. He says that it's up to her, she decided to be beautiful and stay true to him.
The seven deadly sins may have consequences.

Affect Vs. Effect

I learned about when you use either affect or effect. Grammer girl talked about examples and ways to remember. Affect vs. effect is one of the most asked questions in grammar. Most of the time that you use affect it is a verb. Usually when you use effect it is a noun. There are some cases where "the roles" are switched. If you remember affect-verb, effect-noun, you will get it right 95% of the time.

Example of Affect: The earthquake affected the state of California.

Example of Effect: The earthquake had a huge effect on the state of California.

Beowulf Paragraph

Are there different Christ-Like figures in our world? Beowulf is a Christ-like figure in the book Beowulf. To the people, he is an auspicious and singular person. Everyone believes in his aptitude to be great and to defeat the Lady Monster. Being a Christ-like figure means being impervious, and erudite. There are many examples where Beowulf serves as a figure to the people in the society. When Beowulf goes off to defeat Grendel's mom, the people were waiting for him to return, and when he didn't return for a while the people lost faith in Beowulf. When Beowulf came back the people were overly joyed at his return. He was praised. To the people he has a certain affinity about him. They look up to him and take into consideration the ideas he has to offer. They go to Beowulf for support. Beowulf is a great example of a Christ-like figure.

Anglo-Saxon and Old English Culture and language

I think that are similarities and difference of what the people in those ages endured. Many of the people from the different ages had the same kind of jobs. The Anglo Saxons endured more. The chipping away of the rock still occurs today with the mining. People make their houses out of the same material as they did back then. The middle-class people worked normal jobs. The noble men fought. And pheasants just tried to survive with what they could and what they had. They may have had to have more than one job to help support his family. A lot of people today have more than one job to be able to pay for everything. There are many similarities and difference of culture.
